Superior replacement for the standard Quick Launch Bar
Apps and files are a just click away
Looking at the motley crowd of shortcuts on your computer desktop but not able to find the one you need? Do you often find yourself looking for an app to run rather than doing your work? True Launch Bar can make your day go easier as it can solve these and many other problems related to quick access to your PC content!
It’s the same Windows desktop you know and love. But with True Launch Bar, your workspace becomes more convenient and fun to use. Create a custom menu on the taskbar to list similar apps. Drag and drop necessary shortcuts there. Select menu icons to find applications quickly. If icons are not enough, True Launch Bar can show tooltips for you to find what you are looking for almost on autopilot. With separators and submenus, you can group items by topic and create any kind of a custom menu you want. Are you a fully-fledged touch typist? Awesome! True Launch Bar lets you specify hot keys for menus and shortcuts to open them with a touch of a button.
Keep important things at hand
With True Launch Bar, reaching for computer folders just became the easiest part of customizing your computer desktop to your needs. Create a custom menu from a folder using the program and everything you want will come to life with a mouse click. My Documents, Control Panel, Games and everything in between: you’ll be able to create menus for all folders! For example, you can create a menu with printers and manage them from the context menu. True Launch Bar can show thumbnails of your photos in a menu or display the list of recent documents. Filters can help you focus only on the files you need in a menu.
With custom menus available from the taskbar, you get what you want instantly, without having to browse through folders over and over again. Isn’t it nice?
Add a personal touch with taskbar applets
Part of the fun in customizing your desktop with True Launch Bar is adding a personal touch with plug-ins. Rather than using default shortcuts, you can now add buttons that work like small applets! Imagine being able to check incoming mail, see weather forecast, track the latest news, manage contacts in a small address book, change music volume, control system parameters, and more – all using the button applets on the taskbar. With our library of plug-ins for True Launch Bar, you can choose from dozens of taskbar applets that let you do all that and more!
Apart from functionality, our applets can brighten your desktop and add a personal charm to your workspace.
Rejuvenate your desktop with skins
You can use default skins but if you like beautiful things, why not have some fun? Whether you want stylish, artistic, cute or fun, True Launch Bar has a skin for you. If you’re the creative type and want to have more freedom in personalizing your desktop, why not create a skin of your own? The format of a skin in True Launch Bar is fairly simple, so designing your own skin is not a problem at all! Minimalists can simply change colors for elements. Those who have Windows Vista or Windows 7 can make use of all the advantages of the Aero interface – translucent, glass menus look totally outstanding! But even without skins, True Launch Bar looks clean and nice, exactly as other system panels or menus. The program fully supports default Windows visual styles.
Taskbar and more!
You can enjoy all the advantages of True Launch Bar not only on the taskbar, but also as a side panel. The side panel can be snapped to any edge of the screen on any monitor. We have created a special standalone version of True Launch Bar that can work independently from Windows Explorer. You can use True Launch Bar as a side bar. In Standalone True Launch Bar, you’ll discover an extended auto-hide feature control. Moreover, for Windows 7 the standalone version is the only way to create an external bar beyond the taskbar.
Installation
True Launch Bar uses the same technology as standard Quick Launch. This means that True Launch Bar does not have executable file. To open True Launch Bar right-click on the empty space of the taskbar, point to the Toolbars and select True Launch Bar menu item.
True Launch Bar also shows the title "True Launch Bar" of toolbar. This is standard feature of the desktop toolbars. If you do not like it, right click the title and select the "Show Title" menu item.
Initially True Launch Bar contains all button like Quick Launch. To add new buttons you can simply drag them to True Launch Bar. To create menu right-click on True Launch Bar point New and select Menu. In the right-click menu you can find other options for True Launch Bar and access to the Settings dialog.
True Launch Bar features
We are constantly improving True Launch Bar. All new features are included in the latest beta version. Visit beta area and find out about the huge number of new features of True Launch Bar.

Firelux brings f.lux functionality to Firefox |

Firelux is a brand new add-on for the Firefox web browser that brings f.lux like functionality that adapts the color of the screen to the time of day to Firefox.
The main idea behind f.lux and comparable programs is to improve the computer screen when it is dark outside by adjusting the color of the screen at night to be warmer.
Not only is this more pleasing to the eye, it apparently helps people who work on the computer until late at night better.
In fact, Apple just launched a new feature in iOS 9.3 called Night Shift that does the same on Apple devices running the new version of the operating system.
Firelux
The browser extensions has been designed with simplicity in mind. It adds an icon to Firefox's main toolbar by default which you can click on to display all color profiles currently provided.
A click on any of the profiles changes the color accordingly and instantly. Six color profiles are available by default as well as an option to select a custom color by selecting it, entering hex values or color codes.
You may furthermore change the intensity of the filter from the default setting of 30%, and enable automatic color changing.
When you check the "change automatically" box, you get to set sunrise and sunset times manually which the extension will use to change the temperature automatically from that moment on provided Firefox is running.
As you can see on the screenshot above, Firelix will change the color of the actual web page only but no the browser chrome.
Neither the titelbar, tab bar or address bar are modified in any way by the extension.
You may notice a slight delay during page load where the original color of the page is displayed before the filter is applied by Firelux.
Closing Words:
If you use Firefox all the time, preferably fullscreen, then you may find the extension useful. Also, since it does not interfere with other programs you may run on your system, you can ensure that these programs display colors correctly which may be useful for graphic designers, photographers and anyone else working with colors on the system.
For most users, a program like F.lux -- recently released for Android -- is probably the better option as it offers more options such as gradual color changes or adjustments based on the time of year.

HTTPS Checker: scan your web page for HTTPS issues |

HTTPS Checker is a free program for Windows that provides you with the means to scan all pages of a website for HTTPS related issues.
Rolling out HTTPS on an established site has become a lot easier in recent time. While that is the case, it still very important to make sure that the implementation does not cause any issues such as duplicate content, mixed content warnings or certificate validation issues as it can backfire if that is the case.
HTTPS Checker limits the crawls per run to 250 but you may increase that limit and add functionality to it by upgrading your subscription to one of the paid plans.
Free is however a good start when it comes to checking a website initially, and it is often the case that pages share common characteristics and issues which can then be fixed once for all pages so that a scan of all pages of a site may not be necessary at all.
HTTPS Checker
The program asks for a simple registration on first start and prompts you for a url that you want to scan afterwards.
Simply enter the url in the form and wait for the scan to complete. You can limit the number of issues in the advanced options and will notice that other options, such as changing the user agent are restricted to paid accounts.
The scan may take a while to complete depending on the account level, Internet connection, site that is scanned and advanced parameters you have set before the scan.
HTTPS Checker reveals the following "global" information about the scanned pages:
- Active mixed content.
- Passive mixed content.
- Insecure redirects.
- Insecure canonical links.
- Insecure links to the same domain.
- Insecure social links.
- Insecure sitemap links
- SSL certificate validation.
- If the strict transport security header is used.
- If the HTTP site redirects to HTTPS.
- When the SSL certificate expires.
When you scroll down you find information about each page or element on the site and its issues.
There you find listed the issue found, and the code on the page that caused it. Some items may be easy to fix, for instance by switching from using a protocol, e.g. http://www.ghacks.net/, to a protocol-relative notation, e.g //www.ghacks.net/ while others may prove to be difficult to resolve.
The program does not provide you with tips on resolving the issues encountered during a scan apart from linking to guides that may assist you in that task.
You may want to re-run the scan after fixing some of the issues to make sure they are resolved. While you are limited to 250 pages per scan if you are using a free account, you don't seem to be limited in the number of scans you can run.
Closing Words
HTTPS Checker is a useful program for webmasters who are in the process of adding HTTPS to their site, or have done so in the past already. A scan reveals potential issues that are sometimes easy to overlook, especially when it comes to large sites with thousands of pages.

Microsoft Will Reward Users for Security Bugs Found in OneDrive |

OneDrive is now part of Microsoft’s Bounty Program
Microsoft has recently added cloud-based storage service OneDrive to the list of services included in the Bounty Program, so security researchers who report vulnerabilities are now eligible for a financial reward that goes up to $15,000 (€13,300).
In an announcement posted on TechNet, Microsoft reveals that OneDrive is covered by the same terms of services as all the other services including the Microsoft Online Services Bug Bounty Program, so make sure you read them all before a submission.
To be eligible for a financial reward, you must find a vulnerability included in one of the following categories: XSS, CSRF, insecure direct object references, injection vulnerabilities, server-side code execution, privilege escalation, and significantly security misconfiguration when not caused by users.
“Generally, bounties will be paid for significant web application vulnerabilities found in eligible online service domains. Additionally, in order for submissions to be processed as quickly as possible and to ensure the highest payment for the type of vulnerability being reported, submissions should include concise repro steps that are easily understood,” Microsoft explained.
You must be at least 14 years old to qualify for a financial reward and must not work for Microsoft or another organization that doesn’t allow you to participate in the program.
Security commitment
Microsoft says the addition of OneDrive to the list of supported services for its bounty program is living proof that it’s willing to invest more in security, especially because the number of customers who decide to store their data in the cloud is growing.
And yet, Redmond has also made some changes to OneDrive that more or less forced users to move to a different cloud-based storage service, as it decided to cut the amount of free storage offered to new accounts from 15 GB to 5 GB. Furthermore, the unlimited storage option has also been removed after it found that some users uploaded movies and DVR recordings in the cloud.

Adblock Plus Beta Extension for Microsoft Edge to Launch Soon |

Now expecting for Microsoft to push the release button
Microsoft has recently released extension support for Edge browser in Windows 10 Redstone preview builds, and work on such browser add-ons has already started, with some devs already rolling out beta versions of their own extensions.
Adblock Plus is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated extensions for Edge browser. and while Microsoft has already confirmed that it’s working with the company to bring it to Windows 10 users, everyone was wondering how come that a beta version is not yet available.
In a tweet posted this morning, Adblock Plus confirmed that their Edge extension is already in the works and a beta is prepared for the rollout. All it takes is for Microsoft to push the release button and users can install it on their devices running Windows 10 Redstone builds.
“Just waiting on Microsoft to allow us to release it! We're working on it as we speak. Just waiting for Microsoft to allow us to be released,” AdBlock Plus explained in two tweets.
More betas to launch before the summer debut
At this point, extensions for Microsoft Edge need to be manually downloaded and installed in Edge browser, but in the future, the software giant plans to make them available in the Windows Store for easy install.
“With this in mind, we have built Microsoft Edge so customers can add extensions to the browser with the confidence that they will operate as expected,” Drew DeBruyne, general manager of Microsoft Edge, explains.
“One of our highest priorities is to ensure that Microsoft Edge is the safest, most reliable and fastest browser we could build, and our experience over the past 20 years has taught us that poorly written or even malicious add-ons were a huge source of security, reliability and performance issues for browsers.”
Extensions should become available for the general public in June when Microsoft releases the Redstone update for Windows 10. By that time, however, users participating in the Insider program can download beta extensions from the web, but they’re only intended for testing purposes.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Starts Receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update |

South Korea is the first country that gets the upgrade
Samsung has a strange way of delivering major Android updates. Although the South Korean company has already confirmed it has kicked off the rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, the upgrade hasn’t been released in too many countries.
Earlier this month, Samsung started to deploy Marshmallow for Galaxy Note 5, but once again, the rollout is nowhere near complete, as many owners are still waiting for the update to arrive on their phablets.
Today, SamMobile reports Samsung Galaxy S5 has just started to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in South Korea. Naturally, Samsung hasn’t yet confirmed the availability of the upgrade and there’s no way to tell where Marshmallow for Galaxy S5 will go next.
Unlocked variants at LG U+ carrier
According to the source mentioned earlier, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is now available for all unlocked versions of the Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900L) operating on LG U+ carrier.
If this is a limited release, then it will take a few weeks for Samsung to start deploying this to more countries. In any case, you might want to check your Galaxy S5 smartphone for a new update regardless of your location.
We’re almost in April and Samsung has yet to provide Android 6.0 Marshmallow to its previous flagship smartphones. By the time the South Korean company finishes with this particular update, Google might have already released Android N.
The good news is Samsung might come up with the first smartphone powered by Android N, the Galaxy Note 6, which is now expected to be unveiled in mid-July.
Some of the Samsung smartphones and tablets that have been confirmed for an Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade this year won’t get Android N, though, because they will be more than 2 years old. Let’s just hope that Samsung will provide Marshmallow to as many smartphones and tablets as possible.

Best Antivirus Apps for Windows 10 Enterprise |

AV-TEST performs new research of enterprise security suites
There are many ways to protect a Windows computer, but the main one continues to be installing an antivirus solution that can do almost the whole job for you. And although Windows 10 features significant security improvements, antivirus apps are still needed.
German security institute AV-TEST conducted a new research to determine the best antivirus solutions for enterprise computers and find out which one provides the best client-server protection.
Of the 11 security apps included in the test, just one scored a maximum of 6 points in all sessions, namely Kaspersky’s Small Office Security 15.0, while two others, Bitdefender Endpoint Security 5.3 and Trend Micro Office Scan 11, achieved 6 points for protection and usability, but 5.5 points for performance.
Microsoft’s System Center Endpoint Protection 4.8, which once again has been used as base values, obtained 4.5 points for protection and performance and the maximum of 6 points for usability.
Lowest scores
Cylance Protect 1.2 and Seqrite Endpoint Security 16.0 got the worst overall scores of just 13.5 and 13 points, respectively.
“While the products from Cylance and Seqrite are not bad in terms of operation, they fail to score higher in the overall ranking than the reference value set by the Microsoft Security Module,” AV-TEST says in the official result documents.
“The laboratory used the result of the Microsoft security module also tested, the System Center Endpoint Protection, as a reference value for comparison. The threshold thus lay at 15 points, which was exceeded, however, by Intel Security, Sophos, F-Secure and G Data. Only the products from Cylance and Seqrite came in lower with 13.5 and 13 points.”
Although it’s very clear that security solutions can help stay away from malware, it’s also up to users to keep their computers on the safe side, so avoid clicking links and downloading files coming from unknown sources that could post a risk of infection for your data.
