QCF Design is giving away their popular roguelike game, Desktop Dungeons, for free on Steam.

The game is likely being given away to promote the remake of the original game, which is being released as Desktop Dungeons: Rewind.

Some info about the giveaway:
There are two versions of Desktop Dungeons. Though they have the same content, one is paid and is called "Special Edition", while the other is free. The only difference is that owners of the Special Edition will get a free copy of Desktop Dungeons: Rewind. If you already owned Desktop Dungeons on Steam before this giveaway, check your library for a free copy of the new game that is releasing today.
If you don't have the paid version, you can still buy the Special Edition while it is on sale for the next couple of hours, to get the new game for free.
Edit: Claiming the free version does not allow you to purchase the Special Edition.
Edit 2: Apparently, the developers planned on making the old version of the game free after launching Rewind. Here's what the developers had to say on Steam.

Edit 3: So basically, it went as they had planned. The old version of Desktop Dungeons is free to claim for a week. Claiming it won't get you the new paid version.

Sorry for the confusion at the moment. We're trying to sort this out. Desktop Dungeons was meant to be free when Desktop Dungeons: Rewind launched, but timings have gotten confused.
