Thanks, Mike, for celebrating on this forum the establishment of our nation, beginning with the "The Declaration of Independence. (July 2, 1776, but celebrated openly for the first time on July, 4, 1776)."

Over my 70 years of life, I have come to know that most people, sadly, do not know the story surrounding this event nor the reason why this time in history is important to the world. ... "Self government" via a Constitutional Republic, such as ours, came out of this event that we call "The 4th of July."

FYI: This is what I understand to be so, as taught to me by several of my university professors of history:

Most historians agree that before this event, for the 4000-6000 years that mankind began to settle down into towns/cities and quit being nomadic hunter/gathering roaming tribes of around 30-50 people, all settled societies were governed by approximately four(4) percent of any given societies' elites which were made up of  1. Kings (tyrants/dictators), 2. The King's "strongmen" (soldiers/thugs/warriors), and, 3. The Clergy (religious leaders/priests) that the King and his family personally chose and appointed or approved of. All the rest of any given society, which approximated 96% of the town/city/state/country/empire, were forced to submit to the will of the 4% ruling class. ... This was all that civilizations knew to exist, except for a very brief period in Ancient Greece where a form of democracy was practiced but did not survive for long. ... The "self-government" found within a constitutional Republic such as The United States of America was the first successful break from the 96% being controlled by the elite 4% in the history of civilization anywhere in the world. ... Our "Founding Fathers" and their armies of citizen supporters along with France which followed our nation in establishing their Republic shortly after our nation's founding had to fight such a tyrannical form of government to establish our Constitutional Republic." ...  (* Some Marxist Socialist may try to argue with this understanding of history, but that is their nature to do so for ideological reasons of wresting control away from our true form of self-government.)

May God bless The United States of America, and all who support her on this day.
