New York's massive nursing home death toll as a result of a similar Democrat policy going unheeded by bureaucrats.      The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) is requesting nursing homes to take in COVID-positive patients to alleviate hospital overcapacity.

Yes, really.

Until Thursday, the state had required hospitalized COVID patients to test negative before being discharged, but this new guidance waives that requirement thanks to Gov. Ned Lamont’s (D) executive order.

“Hospitalized patients should be discharged from acute care whenever clinically indicated, regardless of COVID-19 status,” Public Health Commissioner Dr. Manisha Juthani wrote in the two-page memo.

“Discharge should not be held due to a pending SARS-CoV-2 test, as receiving PAC (post-acute care) providers should now have quarantine policies in place based on COVID-19 vaccination status,” Juthani wrote. “PAC providers should be equipped to safely care for individuals with active COVID-19 who are ready for discharge from acute care.”

“Vaccination status of an individual should not influence decisions about hospital discharge or PAC admission,” he added.

The guidance also order hospitals to report to the state government any “skilled nursing facilities” who don’t adhere to the guidance to explain their reason for doing so.

From the Hartford Courant:

Post-acute care facilities include long-term care hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation facilities, skilled nursing facilities and home health agencies. But the majority of the patients end up in skilled nursing home facilities.

The change comes even as state data show more than 80% of Connecticut’s nursing homes are now reporting COVID-19 cases among either staff or residents, and booster shots among staff remain low.

In 2020, former disgraced Gov. Andrew Cuomo imposed a similar policy in the beginning of the pandemic, ordering nursing homes to take in COVID-positive patients to ease hospital capacity.

Cuomo’s policy resulted in over 15,000 nursing home deaths since the pandemic started, according to a report released by the New York Department of Health.

These same public health officials who think exposing the most vulnerable population to COVID is a good idea are also simultaneously aggressively imposing masks and vaccine mandates on school children, the least at-risk demographic.
