Facebook Messenger for Android Updated with Support for Multiple Accounts
#1
Switching between accounts requires a password

Facebook has just announced that its Messenger application received a new feature that will allow users to switch between multiple accounts.

The new feature is available on Android devices, so if you own one you should expect the new feature to rollout in the next couple of days.

“All over the world, hundreds of millions of people share their phones and tablets with members of their family and friends. At Messenger, we want to make communication simpler, more seamless and secure, so we are happy that we have now launched a feature on Android that enables multiple people to log in and use Messenger from a single, shared device,” said Facebook in a post.

Although users will be able to switch between multiple Facebook Messenger on the same device, all messages will remain completely private.

According to developers, anyone else who shares the device will just see the number of notifications of messages that they have, so they will never be able to see the content of messages on other Messenger accounts.

You can remove your account from a device at any time

So, if you want to benefit from this new feature, open the Messenger for Android settings and look for a section called “Accounts.”

On the Accounts page, add the accounts related to each person by signing up with Messenger; you will not need to be on Facebook to do that.

Keep in mind that the first time someone switches from another account on a phone to their account, they will require a password. After this, the user can choose whether to always require a password.

As mentioned earlier, Facebook Messenger users will be able to move between accounts, and all private messages will always remain just that, private.
Naturally, you can always remove your account from a device if you decided to stop sharing Facebook Messenger with someone else.

You can now download Facebook Messenger for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 and up.
