F-Secure Safe

F-Secure is a contender if you are attracted to the idea of protecting up to five devices with one license. With one license you can enhance security on Windows, Macintosh, Android and iOS devices.
The Windows component of this all-in-one internet security software performs well. In fact, AV-Test has published excellent results for F-Secure testing it conducted on Windows 8.1 in the first two months of 2015. F-Secure also recorded very good scores for tests to check for performance loss and usability. In addition to protection against malware, F-Secure also protects against phishing sites. Although this application does not include some of the features found in competitors, it does have a password manager and parental controls. Furthermore it stops alerts during gaming sessions or full-screen video. Some of the computer security software products in our review include antitheft, online backup and file shredding. F-Secure SAFE does not.
The AV-Test lab confirms excellent malware detection rates for F-Secure on Mac systems and finds that the software does not slow down its host Mac enough to notice. The feature list includes antiphishing, a password manager and parental controls – more Mac features than are in most of F-Secure’s multiplatform computer protection software competitors.
The mobile component supports iOS and Android. The features for iOS are antiphishing and parental controls. Android features include antiphishing and parental controls but add antitheft features, a password manager and an application advisor to alert you to privacy stealing apps. During Android security tests conducted by AV-Test in August 2014, F-Secure detected more than 98 percent of malware samples.
From the F-Secure account portal you can see your devices and remove or reinstall them. You can also see how many licenses you have left and manage antitheft features remotely.
F-Secure provides good help and support via online chat, telephone and email. The online support pages contain collections of tools such as uninstallation utilities, a rescue CD and support tools that collect information that F-Secure support staff can use to troubleshoot any problems you report. You can also participate in community forums to learn from other users.
