SafePrice extension for Edge now up for grabs

Security company Avast has just launched an extension for Microsoft Edge browser, though it’s not in any way related to the award-winning antivirus built by the same vendor.

Instead, the extension is called SafePrice and its purpose is to allow users of Microsoft’s Windows 10 browser to find the best prices, coupons, and deals for the products they want to purchase online.

Also available for other browsers like Google Chrome, Avast SafePrice works in a pretty straightforward way and automatically checks for better deals while you shop online.

“Avast SafePrice will automatically check every other trustworthy, reputable shopping website and give you a comprehensive list of the best online deals and free coupons. Then, all you have to do is click on the deal you want, and presto, we’ll take you there and you can finish your purchase,” the description of the extension published in the Microsoft Store reads.

Needless to say, Avast offers this browser add-on completely free, and you can download it from the Microsoft Store right now using this link.

Microsoft Edge adoption
Avast is one of the top antivirus makers out there and its freeware security product is already installed on millions of systems worldwide, including Windows 10. You can download Avast Free Antivirus from Softpedia.

While such releases clearly make Microsoft Edge a more appealing browser for Windows 10 users, its adoption is substantially lower than in the case of third-party alternatives.

According to third-party data offered by NetMarketShare, Microsoft Edge is currently the leading browser on Windows 10 with a share of 62.85 percent, followed by Internet Explorer, which no longer receives feature updates, with 11.82 percent. Mozilla Firefox is third with 9.92 percent, while Edge is only fourth with just 4.26 percent.

Microsoft Edge is also available on non-Windows mobile platforms, including Android and iOS, but statistics regarding its adoption are not yet available.
