Deeper integration of PDF in Office apps

Microsoft and Adobe have just announced an extension of their original partnership that would bring even more tools to customers of both companies.
As part of this new renewed collaboration, Microsoft and Adobe are introduced more advanced PDF functionality right within Microsoft Office apps. Users can create PDF documents from the ribbon of apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Microsoft is making these options available in the online version of its productivity suite.
Additionally, PDF options will also be integrated into SharePoint and OneNote, which means customers can also create PDFs that retain the formatting and settings of documents.
Microsoft says that as part of the agreement, deeper integration with Dynamics 365 will also be offered to customers of both companies.
“Adobe Sign and Microsoft Dynamics are already used by hundreds of joint customers. Now they can leverage a new UI for quick navigation, real-time access to customer details from LinkedIn Sales Navigator to reduce contracting errors and automated sales processes by embedding Adobe Sign into multistep Dynamics 365 workflows,” the two firms announced in a press release issued today.

Microsoft itself has pushed for its very own PDF alternative known as XPS, but this particular file extension has failed to gain the popularity of Adobe’s format. On the other hand, two years ago, Microsoft and Adobe joined forces for software and service integration.
The original deal signed in 2016 and announced at Microsoft Ignite made Azure the preferred public cloud service for Adobe customers, while Adobe’s Marketing Cloud became the choice for Microsoft Dynamics.
“Microsoft and Adobe share a common vision of the workplace of the future—one that is centered on teamwork and collaboration,” Ron Markezich, corporate vice president, Microsoft Office 365 at Microsoft Corp., said in a typical press releasey statement.
