The company is working to reduce RAM usage of the app
Jan 27, 2021 18:07 GMT · By Bogdan Popa Microsoft Teams has recorded massive growth last year due to obvious reasons, and now the Redmond-based software giant is working around the clock on improving the overall experience for everybody.
As the world transitioned from the classic office to an ad-hoc working environment in the safety of their own homes, it’s pretty clear Microsoft needs to optimize Microsoft Teams for all kinds of hardware configurations, not just for monster PCs typically in use in the workplace.
It’s not a secret that Microsoft Teams isn’t necessarily light on resources, and this is something that the Redmond-based software giant is well aware of.
And this is why the company has recently confirmed it’s working on optimizing Microsoft Teams’ resource usage, as it wants the app to require less RAM on computers out there.
No ETA as to when the optimizations could launch
As noted by MSPU, there’s no ETA available right now as to when these improvements are supposed to go live, so it’ll obviously take a while until they become available to everyone out there.
In the meantime, the number of users running Microsoft Teams on a daily basis keeps improving, with recent Microsoft stats providing us with a closer look at how the service grew bigger in the last 12 months or so.
“Teams is rapidly becoming the de facto unified communications platform of choice for every organization. New features like voice enabled channels create a more powerful and streamlined calling experience, and noise suppression and live captions with speaker attribution make meetings more accessible. At Accenture alone, audio conferencing on Teams has increased to over 1 billion minutes a month, as 85,000 employees use Teams to make external calls. And, this quarter, Lumen, formerly CenturyLink, rolled out Teams calling globally to 42,000 employees in just four weeks,” the company explains.
