Facebook Still Wants to Ruin WhatsApp with Ads, Awful Idea Leaked
#1
Quote:Ads in WhatsApp just a matter of time according to report

Facebook definitely wants to bring ads to WhatsApp, only that it needs to find a way to comply with all requirements first.

So the social network’s plan have until now changed several times, and after it was previously believed the company gave up on bringing ads to WhatsApp, it now looks like the idea is back on the table.

A report from The Information reveals that Facebook still intends to invade WhatsApp with ads and to make the entire experience as personalized as possible, it aims to rely on information from all its social platforms for the whole thing.

In other words, Facebook will use information about you from the social network, Instagram, and WhatsApp to create a personalized profile that would then be used to serve you more relevant ads. How it’ll do that is still an enigma for now, but it shouldn’t technically be too difficult given Facebook has access to tons of data about you, especially if you’re already using the social network and the other services it owns.

The ad push
The debut of ads on WhatsApp will certainly be a turning point for so many users, as many could switch to alternative services for a completely clean experience.

Telegram is currently the main rival to WhatsApp, and it offers features that Facebook is still working on for its messaging platform, including self-destructing messages – as a matter of fact, this feature is already in beta for WhatsApp, but a release date isn’t yet available.

It remains to be seen when ads make their way in WhatsApp, but for now, it’s very clear that Facebook has no intention to give up on its plans to better monetize its mobile messaging platform in one way or another.
