Second Extinction is an Early Access game. Not released yet.

Second Extinction is primarily intended to be played with others. It’s a squad-based co-op shooter and is much harder without friends. While we’re exploring all options and will balance the game throughout Early Access, we strongly encourage you to play as a team.

What is the current state of the game?
We want the full version to reflect what our players expect from a dinosaur-killing co-op shooter game! While we have some ideas on what that would look like there are still a lot of unknowns that we will be testing out and getting input on. We’ll be ready for a full version when both us and our community say we are.

Second Extinction currently contains: 6 Heroes, 12 Weapons with 5 tiers of upgrade, 6 missions across 7 regions, including 12 side missions, Horde Mode, Expedition Mode, contracts, cosmetics to unlock, and more!

According to Steamdb, Second Extinction has very few players. This is not a good sign for an online game. This might explain why it was given away, they need more players.

Seems to be working a bit already ^^

But yeah, <100 players / day on "normal"/non-sale months is not a good sign, even for solo games lol... Not-that-good reviews either...

Game is said to be pretty hard for noobs on solo (not in 3 men squads), that's a good challenge on hard I guess, as I like, so I'll give a try, thx for the 25 /13.75 € gift Epic.

Looks like a modern Turok or Serious Sam to me.

FYI, the Steam Winter Sale has begun. You can get free trading cards by voting for games in the awards, the option can be found on the Steam homepage. You can get extra free cards for browsing the discovery queue, also accessible from the homepage. Sell those cards to gain a little money in your wallet, it's sorta like an extra discount.

mutant-year-zero looks like a great game.

It definitely is a great game, provided you have played games like X-COM, thought this one plays like a CRPG. A beginner to the genre will find Mutant to be quite difficult, and should instead try the Shadowrun series, or Pillars of Eternity or Tyranny, all of which were given away by Epic Games previously. Though if you ask me, the perfect starters will be Divinity Original Sin 1 or 2.
