Quote:Windows Security will become the new security hub

One of the changes coming to users with the Windows 10 Redstone 5 update in the fall isn’t an entirely new feature, but a rebranding of an existing one in order to make sense for the security approach that Microsoft embraces for the operating system.

After previously merging all security features in Windows 10 the so-called Windows Defender Security Center, the software giant is giving a new tweak to its security hub, changing its name to “Windows Security.”

Just like it is the case in Windows 10 April 2018 Update, Windows Security groups all security features in the operating system, including Windows Defender antivirus scanning options, parental controls, and all the other tools that are supposed to protect your data.

Enter Windows Security
Microsoft says that in addition to the name change, other improvements are also planned, and the upcoming Windows 10 builds for users participating in the Windows Insider program will gradually introduce them for testing.

“Windows Defender Security Center is now called Windows Security. You can still get to the app in all the usual ways – simply ask Cortana to open Windows Security or interact with the taskbar icon. Windows Security lets you manage all your security needs, including Windows Defender Antivirus and Windows Defender Firewall,” Microsoft announced today.

“We’re also bringing some changes to how we present threats and actions that need your attention, and we’re continuing to refine that over the coming months.”

The new Windows Security is currently available in Windows 10 Redstone 5 preview build 17661 exclusively, which is now pushed to the Skip Ahead and Fast rings, but it should be part of the final release of the update as well. Redstone 5 is due to see daylight in the fall of this year, and October is likely to witness the public rollout to production systems across the world.
