Microsoft Paint Gets a Modern Update on Windows 11
The Paint app for Windows 11 is getting new improvements

The Paint app that comes bundled with Windows 11 is getting more and more modern improvements, therefore aligning with the visual overhaul the operating system has also received.
Microsoft has announced a bunch of updates for the Paint app for Windows Insiders in the Dev channel, with the company explaining that the Edit Color, the Resize and Skew, and other dialogs now feature a new look to match the Windows 11 design.
Microsoft says it has also included the following improvements for Paint on Windows 11:
Shift-click on a color swatch will now select that color as your secondary color.
Fixed an issue where text boxes would move unexpectedly when using IME.
Fixed an issue where some dialogs were not properly localized in Hebrew, Dutch, Norwegian, and other languages.
Improved support for screen readers.
No ETA for production devices
Needless to say, all these improvements for the modern version of Microsoft Paint are currently exclusive to insiders, but the Redmond-based software giant hasn’t shared an ETA as to when the app could become available for production devices.
The good news, however, is that Microsoft Paint can be updated separately, so users don’t have to wait for an operating system update to get the refreshed app.
Windows 11 is currently rolling out to users out there, with Microsoft planning to complete the process by the summer of 2022.
“New eligible devices will be offered the upgrade first. The upgrade will then roll out over time to in-market devices based on intelligence models that consider hardware eligibility, reliability metrics, age of device and other factors that impact the upgrade experience. We expect all eligible devices to be offered the free upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022,” Microsoft says.
When available, the Windows 11 upgrade shows up on Windows Update just like a regular update.
