It’s supposed to celebrate the upcoming holidays
Nov 12, 2021 22:26 GMT  ·  By Bogdan Popa      Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 wallpaper, and this time, the company says its purpose is to prepare computers across the world (and already running the new OS) for the upcoming holidays.

Needless to say, the background is a festive wallpaper that was created by artist Kervin Brisseaux, with Microsoft explaining that its abstract approach fits Windows 11 just like a glove.

“Taking inspiration from a variety of sources is a way of life for artist Kervin Brisseaux. Brisseaux, a Haitian American creative director who lives in New York City, combines influences from his background in architecture with cues from fashion, music and other facets of pop culture into his vibrant illustration style,” the company explains.

“The light and bright elements of the visual story Brisseaux imagined for his background track with the new color palette and softer, more approachable graphics of Windows 11. Soft floral elements and ribbons play on the operating system’s modern and engaging rounded geometry, while invoking holiday gift-giving traditions.”

Windows 11 now rolling out
Needless to say, this wallpaper can very well be used on Windows 10 as well, but Microsoft says it better aligns with the idea Windows 11 is based on.

In the meantime, Windows 11 is still rolling out to users out there, as Microsoft uses a gradual model to make sure it detects potential bugs early. The company plans to complete the rollout by the summer of 2022.

Devices that can’t be upgraded to Windows 11 can stick with Windows 10 for a little longer, as Microsoft has promised to ship updates until October 2025, according to the original support policy. Once the support period comes to an end, however, buying a new PC compatible with the latest Windows will be the only option.
