Windows 10 Insider Build 18956 Brings the Always on Top Calculator

Microsoft is rolling out Windows 10 20H1 Build 18956 to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. This build includes a lot of new improvements including an improved  Network & Internet Status page, the new always on top Calculator, more users on the new Cortana experience, and better control over notifications.

If you are a Windows Insider in the Fast ring, you can update to Insider Preview Build 18956 by going into Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Update and then checking for new updates.




Below we have outlined some of the major changes in this build. 

Redesigned Network Status page

The Network & Internet settings page is getting a redesigned active connections view and more detailed information and control regarding how a network is utilizing bandwidth.

Active connections view

The Network & Internet Status page is being redesigned to show a list of all active connections. This will allow you to quickly see and disconnect from any active connection.


This page will now also include a Data Usage amount that shows how much bandwidth has been used over a the listed period of time. If you find you are using more data than you expected, you can click on the Data usage button to get a detailed list of apps and how much data they use. 

Data usage improvements



When you go into the Data usage screen for a connection, you will now be shown the apps that are utilizing bandwidth on the specified connection. You will also be able to impose Data limits so that you do not go over a set amount.
