What is this new Windows 10 S and how is it different? Microsoft announced a new version of Windows 10 called "Windows 10 S" that will be geared towards educational environments, and is basically a locked down, limited version of Windows 10. It only allows apps installed from the Windows App Store, for security purposes. However, Microsoft will also be putting Windows 10 S on their new Surface laptop, which I think is a bad move. You are required to pay an extra $50 to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro just to install regular programs.
