Quote:Fraudulent apps from cybercriminals appear in Apple's app store for the first time
Two apps have successfully circumvented Apple's security protocols and have been available to a large audience for some time: "Ace Pro" and "MBM_BitScan" and "BitScan", respectively. Sophos has notified Apple of its find. The rogue apps were then removed from the App Store. Google has also removed the corresponding apps from its store.
As Sophos found out, "Ace Pro" was described in the App Store as a QR code scanner. With this harmless categorization, the app was able to sneak into the app store. In truth, however, a fraudulent crypto trading platform hides behind it.
