Just before noon, a highway bridge collapsed in the northern Italian port city of Genoa. The head of the local emergency service said there were 'dozens of people killed,' said the Italian news agency Adnkronos.
The bridge collapsed at approximately 11:30 as a result of heavy rainfall. Italian television showed photos of a collapsed bridge, which was built on the A10 motorway in the 1960s. Renovation works on the bridge were carried out in 2016. The witness told Sky Italia that he saw 'eight or nine' vehicles on the bridge when he collapsed what he described as an 'apocalyptic scene.'
