Facebook wearables are coming
Facebook made almost 85 billion USD in 2020 selling ads across its platforms, but now it seems that the company wants to diversify its revenue streams through wearables. Since ad sales constitute approximately 98% of the social media giant’s revenue, that’s probably not a bad idea for the company.
So far, Facebook has announced the development of its own fitness watch, smart glasses, and “neural” wristband, which will let you control an augmented-reality interface with your thoughts.
But is it a good idea for users? Given Facebook’s business model of relentless data collection for profit, as well as its history of data leaks, these new ventures have raised a few eyebrows.
