Alleged leak points to May 9 as a possible release date

Windows 10 April 2018 Update, also known as Redstone 4 and previously called Spring Creators Update, is believed to be just around the corner, as Microsoft has recently compiled the second RTM build and shipped it to insiders in the Fast and Slow rings.

And while the official launch was supposed to take place in April, a thing that’s even suggested by its name in the first place, there’s a chance it might actually go live in May, if a new alleged leak is accurate.

As reported by Neowin, a purported memo received by what appears to be a Chinese retail vendor points to May 9 as the possible launch date of the Redstone 4 update, as Microsoft might hold back the release for a couple more weeks.

While it’s very important to take this information with a healthy dose of skepticism, the rumored May 9 release date more or less makes sense for Microsoft, as it aligns with the next Patch Tuesday rollout. Patch Tuesday takes every second Tuesday of each month and brings security updates for Microsoft software.
"Version number"

Originally, Windows 10 Redstone 4 was projected to debut on April 10, the same day when Microsoft published this month’s Patch Tuesday updates.

What’s also odd is that Redstone 4 is currently labeled as version 1803, which is a direct reference to its compiling date. The first two digits represent the year when the RTM build was finalized, in this case 2018, while the other two indicate the month – the third month, so March.

The current RS4 build, however, was compiled in April, so the correct version would be 1804, not to say that a potential release in May could mean the numbering would make even less sense.

It remains to be seen if this information is accurate or not, but it’s pretty clear that we’re not very far from the moment the public Windows 10 Redstone 4 rollout begins.
