Horrible news this morning out of Egypt.
Two Coptic churches were attacked, first one with a planted bomb near the front of St. George’s church in Tanta, and then another with a sucide bomber at the door of the St. Mark’s church in Alexandria.
From Egyptian Streets:
The explosion in Tanta left 25 dead and 71 injured, according to the Health Ministry in Gharbiya. According to preliminary reports in state media, a bomb had been placed inside the church underneath a seat.
This was the moment of explosion at St. George’s. The Palm Sunday mass was being broadcast live on Egyptian T.V.

A second explosion then took place at St. Mark’s in Alexandria where the Coptic pope, Pope Tawadros, had been saying mass.
These are allegedly pictures of the Pope at St. Mark’s praying about the first blast in Tanta.

Reports are that he left just minutes before the blast at St. Mark’s to go to the first church in Tanta. He is now at a secret location, some believing that he have been meant as the target in the second blast.
According to initial reports, the bomb struck outside St. Mark’s Cathedral, killing 16 people and injuring 41 others.
A suicide bomber tried to enter the church, but was stopped by the security detail. Four of the people killed were in the security detail.
