Microsoft Changes Adobe Flash Behavior in Its Windows 10 Browser
Flash will be auto-paused in Edge starting with Redstone

While others are looking into ways to leave Flash behind and develop more secure, stable, and faster alternatives, Microsoft is trying to discover new methods of improving the existing implementations and of offering improved experience to users running Edge on Windows 10.

The upcoming Anniversary Update coming in the summer will change the way Flash content is loaded in Edge browser, with the browser to automatically auto-pause items that are not central to the web page.

This means that when you load a website in Edge and it holds content that is not critical for your experience on the page, the browser can auto-pause it to reduce power consumption and improve browser performance.

Users in control of Flash content

The content can be played when clicking it, and you aren’t losing anything. And the good thing is that Flash ads and animations will all be paused, so if you were looking for a cleaner browser experience, Microsoft Edge seems to be ready to offer it.

“We’re aligned with other browsers in this transition from Flash towards a modern standards-based web. Over time, we will provide users additional control over the use of Flash (including content central to the page) and monitor the prevalence of Flash on the web.  We are planning for and look forward to a future where Flash is no longer necessary as a default experience in Microsoft Edge,” John Hazen, principal program manager lead, Microsoft Edge, explained.

This new feature will arrive in the Anniversary Update scheduled to launch in the summer (specific details on the release date will be provided at a later time by Microsoft).

Windows 10 Anniversary Update to Launch in July, Microsoft Roadmap Reveals
The date is still not confirmed by the company though
Microsoft announced the Anniversary Update for Windows 10 at Build 2016, but the company hasn’t provided any details on when exactly this new version could land.

But information coming from people close to the matter indicated that a July launch was considered and new details provided on a Microsoft website now seem to confirm that this is indeed very likely.

A Microsoft roadmap spotted by @h0x0d (via WinBeta) indicates that the software giant is planning some big changes to Cortana (which are likely to be introduced with the Anniversary Update), and all these improvements are projected to debut in July.

“Cortana is also the best digital assistant at reminders, letting you set them in more ways including by pen, and [coming in July 2016] pulling reminder-relevant info from emails so you have the details at hand. And you can instantly capture your ideas by voice just by telling Cortana to take a note,” the roadmap page reads (emphasis is ours).

July makes sense

Although Microsoft still wants to remain tight-lipped for the moment when it comes to the release of the Anniversary Update, the July date actually makes sense given the fact that Windows 10 turns one during the month. Furthermore, Microsoft ends the free upgrade promo on July 29, so releasing an update that brings new features is the best way to convince more people to install Windows 10 at the very last minute.

There is a reason the company doesn’t want to share more information on the release date of the Anniversary Update: work on this version is still under way and in case major bugs are found, it can easily push back the launch for a few more days without anyone knowing about it.

It’s a known fact that missing a deadline is not well received by the community and it already happened several times during the development process of Windows 10 to launch preview builds later than planned, so Microsoft clearly wants to avoid this with the Anniversary Update.
For the moment, all we know for sure is that the Anniversary Update is landing in the summer, so we shouldn’t be too far away from the moment this happens.

Taking notes:



CintaNotes lets you take notes by many ways. You can enter notes manually or clip text from other applications or paste text from clipboard. To manually add a new note; simply select the "New Note" command from the "Edit" menu or just press the Ins key or Ctrl+N. The built in note editor opens a new window where you can enter the title, text, tags, link. The note's Link is just some URL associated with the note, e.g. "http://promo2day.com". The "Tags" field is used to categorize notes for easy finding and arrangement. You can manage your notes in any way you need; edit, merge, clipping text from other applications, paste text from clipboard, or delete notes.





Finding Notes:



With prolonged use of the program you will have a long list of notes. If you want to find a specific note you need now, you can do this easily using the search feature of the program. Of course this feature is very useful, let’s you find notes rapidly and save time and effort. The program supports many search tools such as You have many search types such as simple search, search inside words, search querry syntax, and so on. You can enter a search query to limit the display to the notes satisfying the query.

Previewing and Reading Notes:



Your notes will be organized in a list in the program. Some of the text in each note will appear and you can preview it. The number of the text lines which are displayed is controlled by the Options and the note list. If a note's text is too long to fit into the preview, a small arrow indicator is displayed in the lower right corner. With the Left and Right arrow keys you can scroll the text in the preview. Managing Notes:



Using the program features you will be able to add Tags to your notes. This will help to categorize your notes. The program offers you some tag suggestions as a drop down list; a feature called “Tag auto-completion”. The built in “Tag Sidebar” is a handy tool for fast access to different tags and tag sets. The sidebar is not displayed by default; you can turn it on using the tag sidebar command under view.  Tags can be filtered to make it easy to work with specially when there are many tags available. You can also organize your tags in the form of a tree like “Tag Hierarchy “. In addition, you can edit tag properties.

Using Search History:

The program has a feature that helps to remembers each search you have done. This will let you go back to any search result you had before. The two commands available next to the search box; “Back and Forward buttons” are represented as arrows and lets you easily move through the history of your searches

Sorting and Reordering Notes:

CintaNotes supports sorting notes by title, creation and modification date, link and size. You can also select the direction of the sort using the "View / Reverse Order" menu option.
If you select "Manual"as your current sort mode, you can easily reorder selected notes using the Alt+Up and Alt+Down keys or even move notes to the top of the list using (Alt+Home) or to the  bottom using (Alt+Bottom). The moving commands are also accessible from the main Edit menu and more easily from the context menu.

Password Protection:



CintaNotes can protect your sensitive data and encrypt notebooks using the industry acclaimed AES-256 algorithm. The notebook will always remain encrypted on disk and will only be decrypted into memory when you enter the password. select the File / Password Protection command in the main menu then enter your password. That’s all! You can change the password easily using change password button. Also you can remove the password simply by uncheck of Protect this notebook with a password"

Notebooks:

On first launch of the program, a notebook file called "cintanotes.db" will be created in the install location (or the location of the executable if using the portable version). This file stores all the notes you are taking. You can easily create new notebooks using the new command present under file menu.  The “Open command” under file menu helps to open existing notebook file. In addition, you can save notebooks using the Save As command. The PRO License allows you to have multiple notebooks always at your fingertips. Each time you create a new file or open an existing one, it will be added to the File menu. You can easily switch between notebooks.

Sections:



The program has a very interesting built in feature that allows you to organize your notes in the way you want to have sets of notes. This feature is called “Sections”. Thus all notes are still present in the same notebook file but divided into sets. Sections in a notebook are represented as tabs on the Section Bar, which is located at the top right below the main menu.
 A section called “Main” is automatically created with each new notebook.  Right-clicking on a tab in the Section bar brings up a context menu which contains all section-related commands. You can then add a new section. The process is very easy. All you have to do is to click “Create New Section” command.



You can rename a section, change its properties, or delete it using the right context menu. You can also change the position of the section tabs using the Move Left (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Left Arrow) and Move Right (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Right Arrow) commands. Each section maintains its own view state, which includes note sorting order and tag selection.
 CintaNotes supports multiple section selection to help you find your note if you cannot remember in which section you put. Simply use Ctrl+Click on a tab, and the notes from this tab will be added to the notes list.
The active section to which the notes go directly is called Inbox section.  You can mark a section as Inbox with the "Set as Inbox" context menu command, or simply via middle-clicking on the section's tab.

Synchronizing Notes:



This feature is important for you if you are want your notes to be always available with you (for example on your mobile device) or you are using multiple computers (for example, work, home and so on).
The process is automatically done using either the Simplenote or the dropbox service. The simplenote service is only available for PRO License holders.
Simplenote is the preferred way to synchronize. It makes your notes available on multiple platforms (such as Mac, Android, Ios and so on) with Simplenote-enabled applications
 It is an an online service for notes which needs you to have an account. It which allows any application to share and synchronize notes over the cloud between your PC and mobile devices.
Dropbox synchronization is available in the free version of the software. It has an advantage that you'll get exactly the same database without transformations.

Pasting Notes to Other Applications:

This feature is available in pro license holders only. CintaNotes allows you to extract the content of a note to another application running on your Windows PC. All you have to do is to click Ctrl+Enter then your selected note text will be pasted into the running Windows application.

File Attachments :

If you need to attach some files to your note to be more informative, you can easily do this. Simply open the note in the editor, click the paper clip button at the top-right corner, to browse for required files then click open. That’s all!
 To view or edit an attached file, you need to open the note it belongs to, then either double click or use right context menu (open command) on the file. If you want to remove an attachment from a note, right click on the file and choose Delete.
The program has built in tools that make the attached files easily searchable, automatically synchronized. CintaNotes supports importing and exporting attachments

Links in Notes:

You can insert links to web pages, other notes, and local files into your notes using the Insert Link context menu command in the note editor (or corresponding keyboard shortcuts).

Ransomware is one of the most prevalent security threats at the moment, and each week there are new examples that up the ante a little more. In recent months we have seen cross-platform ransomware, Tesla 4's unbreakable encryption, and the MBR-overwriting antics of PETYA, but a new phishing scam takes another approach.
In a cleverly orchestrated campaign, a phishing scam is doing the rounds whereby malware meets social engineering in a bid to extract cash from victims. It marries together the file-encrypting Maktub ransomware with a thinly-veiled threat -- home addresses. Quoting victims' home addresses to them serves two purposes: it adds a level of authenticity to the phishing email, but also acts as additional leverage by upping the fear level.

Andrew Brandt from security firm Blue Coat explains that victims receive emails informing them that they owe large sums of money to various businesses. To make the phishing scam seem genuine, victims are advised that hard copies of invoices will be sent to their home address -- which is listed in the email -- but a link purports to provide instant access to the documents. Of course, clicking the link is a mistake.
Speaking to the BBC, Brandt said that the speed with which the ransomware strikes is terrifying:
It's incredibly fast and by the time the warning message had appeared on the screen it had already encrypted everything of value on the hard drive -- it happens in seconds.
There have been suggestions that addresses have been gathered from eBay accounts, but this is something that eBay denies. What is clear however, is that quite some thought has been put into this ransomware campaign which is all about getting people to pay up.
As with other instances of ransomware, pressure is put on victims to pay the ransom to decrypt their files sooner rather than later. Pay within three days, Maktub promises, and the fee is 1.4 Bitcoins (around $588), but leave it a while and this increases to 3.9 Bitcoins (around $1638). The ransomware threatens that if it is ignored for more than two weeks encrypted data could be rendered completely unrecoverable.
