Amazon Launches Its Own Luna Cloud Gaming Service in the US
It costs just $6 per month and offers access to 100 games
Sep 24, 2020 20:44 GMT  ·  By Cosmin Vasile  ·    The cloud gaming market is starting to become crowded as Amazon has just announced Luna, its own cloud gaming service that's now available in the United States. Amazon Luna directly competes with Google Stadia since NVIDIA's GeForce NOW is available just about everywhere in the world.

Amazon Luna costs $6 per month and promises to offer access to 100 games, including Resident Evil 7, Control, Panzer Dragoon, A Plague Tale: Innocence, The Surge 2, Yooka-Laylee, Metro Exodus, GRID, Abzu, and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.

According to Amazon, the “introductory price” of $6 will only be available during the service's early access phase. Subscribers will be given the option to play Luna Plus channel games across two devices at the same time. Amazon's cloud gaming service offer 4K / 60fps resolution for “select titles,” although you'll need a great internet connection for that to work.

Apart from the games included in the $6 monthly fee, Amazon announced that it has partnered with Ubisoft for a dedicated “gaming channel,” which is not included in the basic subscription. Those who want to play Ubisoft's games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, or Immortals Fenyx Rising the same day they release, will have to pay an extra fee.    Amazon plans to add more Luna gaming channels, which will probably require extra fees. More importantly, Luna features Twitch integration, allowing players not only to see Twitch streams for games in the service but also instantly start playing Luna games directly from Twitch.

Finally, Amazon revealed the Luna Controller, an Alexa-enabled controller that connects directly to the cloud to effortlessly control games. The controller features a multiple-antenna design that supposedly prioritizes un-interrupted Wi-Fi for lower latency gaming.

Amazon Luna will launch in early access on Fire TV, PC, Mac, and iOS devices, but not on Android. According to Amazon, the Android version will be available weeks after the early access launch. You can learn more about the Amazon Luna via the dedicated website.
