Privacy upgrades in the EU and Brazil

In the EU, the bloc’s highest court ruled that the flow of data from the EU to the U.S. permitted under an agreement called Privacy Shield was in violation of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Taking its cues from the EU’s GDPR, Brazil has enacted its own version of data protection rights, Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), which came into effect this month.
