Promo2day Review O&O DiskImage 15 Professional Edition

Introduction:

In the event of an emergency, many users try to protect their digital photos, office files or videos by simply making a copy of the data and saving it to an external hard disk, CD or DVD. Problems then arise in the course of time when folders are changed and items deleted in the false assumption that a copy exists elsewhere.

The huge advantage with an Image is that it takes up much less space than a copy of your data. Using special algorithms, it is also able to recognize and save just the changes made since the previous image – so-called follow-up images. This way you can easily manage your Images and when disaster strikes, simply restore your lost data with a few mouse clicks.

O&O DiskImage 15 Professional Edition

O&O DiskImage 15: The data backup for Windows

A regular backup is still something that many users prefer to avoid. At least that is until they suffer their first loss of important files as a result of software, hardware or user error: that’s when it becomes crystal clear just how valuable a reliable and up-to-date backup really is!
O&O DiskImage 15 lets you back up an entire computer or single files whenever you want – even while the computer is being used. In the event you should lose your personal data it can be quickly restored with just a few mouse clicks – even when Windows is no longer able to start. It also supports SSD drives and the latest UEFI System.

O&O DiskImage lets you carry out a system restore and to duplicate or clone an entire PC or hard drive. You can even restore this backup onto a computer whose hardware is different from the original machine, for instance, where you have changed a motherboard on the target machine or have bought a brand new PC and want to restore an old backup onto it.

What drives you need to image?

NEW: Substructure Rebuilt

The entire O&O DiskImage substructure has been completely rebuilt to enable us to add new functions and enhancements quicker and much more regular. The speed of all the base functions has also been increased as a result.

New: DiskImage To Go

Previously, in addition to regularly backing up your machine, you also had to separately create an O&O DiskImage boot media to restore that backup. Everything is easier now! The new DiskImage To Go function automatically turns an external hard drive (or USB flash drive with enough storage space) into an O&O DiskImage boot medium and marks this disk as the preferred storage medium for future system backups. As soon as you then connect this external USB hard disk to your computer, O&O DiskImage 15 automatically creates a backup. This makes it easy to create a recent backup. And if something really happens to your computer or you want to transfer your system and all your data to a new computer, then with the O&O DiskImage boot medium you can restore the backup stored on it with just one touch of a button. Without the hassle of searching for the boot medium and the external hard drive with the backup.
It has never been so easy to ensure the security of your data!

All default and advanced features are combined in one single product

This backup software is the safest and easiest way to avoid losing important personal files! Options are available for both auto backup and manual settings. Thanks to additional system recovery tools you can quickly restore all your important data

Backup entire PCs, hard drives or files with the push of a button

When you back up a PC, O&O DiskImage saves all personal files as well as hard drive information and individual settings. This will protect irreplaceable files and saves you the trouble of having to carry out a time-consuming new setup of programs and the Windows operating system. Just make sure your backups are always up to date.

Quick and easy system restore – even onto different hardware

Restoring a backup with O&O DiskImage is very easy, all you have to do is start the program, select the backup you want to restore, and you’re off. The machine independent restoration lets you transfer the old backup onto a new machine.

Plug-and-play function

Anyone can easily save data on an external hard disk thanks to the integrated plug-and -play option. This is ideal for users who forget to carry out regular backups. Once configured, the auto backup function runs by itself.

Create a boot medium directly from within the program

O&O DiskImage can bring a system back to life immediately with no installation required. It does so by way of a Boot Medium (USB Stick or CD/DVD) which is based on the currently installed Windows system and which contains all the standard drivers required.

Getting started with O&O DiskImage

After first starting O&O DiskImage you can enter your license number by clicking on “Enter your registration code” or by purchasing a new license with “Buy Now!”
O&O DiskImage offers a variety of features to help protect against data loss. It is recommended after the first installation to create a boot medium and a full image to immediately be fully protected against data loss. Depending on the size of your hard drives, the image may take a while.
On the start page, click on “Create DiskImage To Go”. Connect your preferred removable device (USB, Hard Disk) to your computer and select it in the next window. The checkboxes for creating a backup task for DiskImage To Go are already preselected. Now follow the further instructions for creating your boot and image medium. Upon completion of the setup, a new full image will be automatically generated each time the DiskImage To Go boot and image medium is connected in again.

Restoration

Connect the DiskImage To Go boot and backup media containing the backup to be restored to your computer. Change the boot order in the BIOS to start from the external boot and backup media. Start the computer with the DiskImage To Go boot and backup media. On the boot medium start screen that opens, please click on the ” DiskImage To Go ” icon. O&O DiskImage automatically detects the backup on the connected DiskImage To Go boot and backup media and offers you the option to restore this backup. Simply follow the instructions in O&O DiskImage to restore the backup to your computer within a very short time. Of course, you can also restore the backup on a new computer, for instance if you have replaced your old PC.

Features and uses of the program in details:

Create an image of the entire computer

One-click imaging is the fastest and easiest way to create a complete image of all your data and settings. It is especially useful if you are using O&O DiskImage for the first time, or have not yet created an image of your computer.

Restore entire computer

If you want to restore your entire computer or system partition, you need to start O&O DiskImage from a bootable medium under Windows PE then select image in the form field or navigate to the storage location of the image in the browser button.

Image individual drives

Using O&O DiskImage, you can image individual drives (partitions/volumes). This enables you to image system and data drives separately from each other. In case of data loss, you can easily restore data drive only with no need to restore entire computer.

Imaging options

Cloning:

This is a very useful built-in feature that will let you easily replace one disk with a new one. The process combines imaging and restoration in one step. It may be either file based or forensic. File-based cloning is adequate in most cases and lets you transfers all recognized data onto the target.

File Backup:

Do you want to backup individual folders or files instead of an entire drive? You can now do so with a file backup. Files are backed up directly during file backup. Compared to imaging a drive, file backup only includes the file information. No drive information is saved.

Backup changes in a file

A complete image or a previously created image of the changes can be used as base image.

File restoration

If you want to restore files or folders from already existing images, proceed as follows. The first thing to do is make sure you are able to access the image (*.obk).

Tools:

The tools menu includes options for processing images and further activities.

Image files tools:

All tools that can be used for managing image files can be found in the program window under Tools. They can be used on existing image files of every type.
These include image information, validate image files and burn image files

Virtual Drives:

Virtual drives can often be very helpful which is why O&O DiskImage has the option for mounting them from images. Thanks to virtual drives, images don’t have to be restored if you only want to use individual files from the backup. Images can instead be mounted and used while the system’s running. These tools include mount and unmount drives and mount iso files

Convert:

It is recommend that you always create images in O&O DiskImage’s own format. This will allow you to work easily with the image in the future and use all the program’s features on it. If you do wish to use a different format, please use conversion. This feature will allow you, for example, to change the format of your O&O DiskImage file into a virtual hard disk.

You can also combine the images of changes into one complete image. This can be helpful when, for example, you want to save older image files and improve the clarity of your archive. This part includes convert image file and merge incremental files

Map/Disconnect network drive

Under Tools in the ribbon bar, you can select the setting Map network drive. Under Disconnect network drive the connection can be interrupted.

System:

Along with specific features for imaging, O&O DiskImage offers a selection of additional tools. You can, for example, use the check drive feature to estimate your drive’s health. O&O DiskImage also provides options for Command prompt and Change computer properties.

It’s advisable to create an O&O DiskImage bootable medium, either as a simple disk or To Go. Using the simple disk, you can boot the computer from it whenever needed and start restoration. The To Go option is a bootable medium that can also be used as a storage device for your images. If you haven’t yet made a boot medium for your images, we recommend using DiskImage To Go.

Check drive

Under Tools the function Check drive for errors runs an intensive analysis of the file system and data storage interface to protect you against any possible loss of data.

Change computer identity:

You can change the identity of your computer to avoid authentication problems whenever the same computer identity is already being used within a network.

Create boot medium

The bootable disk is created based on the operating system you are using. Using a 64-bit boot disk you’ll be able, among other things, to restore images of GPT hard disks under UEFI/EFI systems.

Command prompt:

O&O DiskImage also has a command line version available. You can use it from the Windows command prompt (cmd). The O&O DiskImage command line makes it possible to manage disks, partitions/volumes, and images by use of commands.

Add a job:

This enables the use of commands in preliminary work and editing, for example weekly backup

Program settings:

These are categorized under many buttons:

General, Security, Notification, Drive Imaging, Drive restoration, Clone drive, File backup, File restoration, Jobs and reports

O&O DiskImage wizard:

This is a built-in stepped approach to have an image or add changes to present image in an easy way that doesn’t need any experience

Express view:

The Express view provides a simple and intuitive way of using the main features of the program. You can use the Express view for creating, mounting, and restoring images. You can also switch easily from one view to another.

Conclusion:

With O&O DiskImage you can quickly and easily create a backup of the entire computer, your hard disks and partitions. Even individual files and directories can be easily backed up. In the event of data loss, with a backup created with O&O DiskImage, your backed-up data will be quickly available again with just a few mouse clicks even if Windows does not start again.
