Quote:1 - Can't upgrade from Windows 7 or Windows 8

Some of the most common problems with Windows 10 are those that happen when first installing the upgrade from Windows 7 or Windows 8.

2 - Can't upgrade to the latest Windows 10 version

Windows 10 receives pretty big updates every so often, such as the Creators update in March 2017, Fall creators Update in October 2017, and the April 18 and October 2018 update last year. Each of these major updates introduces new features to Windows 10, as well as security bug fixes and a whole lot more.

3 - Have a lot less free storage than before

You might not know, but after installing Windows 10 the old version of the OS is hanging around in the background taking up useful space.

4 - Windows Update isn't working

Many people have reported issues with Windows Update in Windows 10.

5 - Turn off forced updates

If you're anything like us, you set up previous Windows releases so that they wouldn't install updates automatically - one forced reboot is one too many.

I am thinking (researching) about adding a Linux operating system to my windows 7 and seeing how that works before I go to Windows 10.  My understanding is that may be a solution to this dilemma.  We have a member of the forum who is a college professor in computer tech and He is doing it now. He says it is the best of both worlds and you can go between operating systems.  It means partitioning my hard drive. If I try it I will let you know the results somewhere on the forum.

At first, I thought this was completely silly, but now I am considering what has ben hereunto unthinkable.

To be so smart, Microsoft is also so stupid.  .... Once again, greedy corporations and poor impotent us. :@

Does anyone have any thoughts or more important, experience on this subject?

I would recommend first installing the system on a virtual machine. To try.

Why not MacOS? According to users, it is a stable operating system.

I would advise using Virtual box, and testing any OS (Esp Win 10, which I am looking at getting rid of, and only using in a virtual machine in future)
Win 7 is by far the better of the Microsoft operating systems. The best ever of MS.
Win 10 is being promoted as being the best, which is exactly how any promotion works. But, no more privacy, and also updates that "break" your computer. Besides the amount of data that they use, since you can`t stop the updates permanently. (Unless you download StopUpdates Win 10)

Here are links to step by step instructions for installing Virtual Box, and then an operating system in it.

There are many Linux distros.
I would advise checking out Linux Mint, a very popluar and user friendly one.

The Cinnamon desktop is really nice.
