Need a Video Coverter and Editor

Hi all. I am looking for a giveaway or a free software of a simple small video editor and converter. Something to cut and merge, and to convert from one file format to another. Something if possible to make the file smaller without loosing quality as musch as possible. I tried Handbrake, but it was not what I needed.
Hope to hear some advice or info on some leads.

you can even use some open source video editing tools for windows like LightWorks
