VoodooShield Pro Review

VOODOOSHIELD is a unique concept for protecting your computer. Instead of traditional security that blacklists the bad, Voodooshield whitelist the good. Voodooshield locks your computer it’s similar but different than a sandbox. Instead, any executable program that tries to run while you are browsing or checking email or running executable program in user space, Voodooshield will block from running and also let you decide if you want to keep it block or let it run.

Voodooshield is set up to learn what’s good and what’s bad, then when the system is ON the computer is run in lock mode, and only the things in the whitelist can run. This is meant to help on anything that does not need to run gets installed without your permission and helps avoid any risks to your computer. I’ve used the Free version and found it non-intrusive, it seems to work as it should and does appear to block software that doesn’t need to run when it’s ON.  If there is any file that Voodooshield believes to be unsafe, it will use cloud-based scanning to check the files, or you can drag the file to the Voodooshield icon as well to scan before running. Still provides some extra protection but as mentioned, this is still meant to run beside your Anti-Virus software.

Voodooshield on my PC is running on smart mode but most of the time it is ON when running mail apps, or any browser. With the free mode when running on Smart mode or autopilot, some web apps don't get activated when opened. For example, a new browser Vivaldi when you open Voodooshield does not turn ON, and you have to activate manually. If you have the Pro version, you have the option to add it to the Web apps section, so when you open up Vivaldi; Voodooshield turns ON. The free versions are quite helpful for when you install it and leave it on Always ON for computers that you can’t check regularly or family computers. Pro version would be best for those that are a bit more knowledgeable or could still be used by regular but adds ways to make sure that it turns ON by adding the web apps or custom folders. Like myself, I rather run it on Smart mode as there are things that I don’t want it to run Always ON. With how Vooodooshield runs and feels non-intrusive, provides ways to run well besides your Anti-Virus software.

There are some tweaks especially in the advanced mode that it’s not recommended to mess around without knowing exactly what it would do as it could potentially leave you vulnerable if unchecked.

Set aside that, the best options for Pro mode would be to make sure whichever application that you open that enters the internet could be run in lock mode and provide a safer browsing. The next option is the custom folders; Voodooshield custom folders give you the option to allow or block specific folders as well. Custom folders work the same way as web apps turn Voodooshield ON and creates a safe point and locks anything that could potentially harm your computer.

Voodooshield is different and meant to run beside your anti-virus software, provides you a way to lock the computer and only let the allowed(good) applications to run and block any harmful software without your permission to run. Provides you with an extra layer of protection and could be best used on computers that you cannot monitor regularly. Pro version lets you customize the way Voodooshield runs but some options you have to watch out. The best options that would make it worth it would be to be able to add custom folders and extra web apps that are not by default. Providing those options lets you be sure that it turns ON when needed which these choices is more for more tech savvy, or you can always leave it on Always ON for those that are not.
