Our research shows that the top 10 Google Play search results for “vpn” are dominated by apps participating in potentially fraudulent manipulation practices.
We also discovered that 7 out of the top 10 apps are either based in Hong Kong, have Chinese directors, or are located in China. The 3 remaining apps are based in the US, having all been purchased by AnchorFree, the creators of Hotspot Shield.
